Design Notes
- Limits capacitor and transformer inrush by dropping resistance as it heats.
- It does not interrupt a fault — pair it with a fuse or breaker upstream.
- Leave cooling time between power cycles so the disk returns to high resistance.
- Resistance at 25 °C sets the cold-start limiting; the hot value is far lower.
- A disk rated for a higher steady current runs cooler at the same load.
- Beta value 2900 K describes how sharply resistance falls with temperature.
- Continuous current must stay at or below 5 A or the disk self-heats.
